Shelley & Brad Cook

​Our Landscape Division is led by Shelley and our Hardscape Division is led by Brad.
Shelley earned the prestigious Certified Plant Professional (CPP) designation by NCNLA and has over 20 years of plant experience, that includes managing a local garden store, studying horticulture at NCSU. In 2021, the NCNLA recognized Shelley's efforts by awarding her the Oakland award for outstanding service to the nursery and/or landscape industry
Brad is a licensed North Carolina Landscape Contractor (#3672) and a licensed Ornamental and Turf Pesticide Applicator (#39125). He has been desigining and installing hardscape projects since 2016. Due to the enormous amount of work and the shortage of workers, in addition to his own hardscaping team, Brad utilizes a seasoned sub-contractor company to accomplish projects in a timely manner. Valiente Hardscaping has earned the trust of the local community with same core values we believe at Carolina Garden Company.

Our Landscape Manager is Brittany Cook, who joined the team in 2020.
She has a B.A. from UNC Chapel Hill in Exercise and Sports Science as well as Asian Studies. She has also earned the Certified Plant Professional (CPP) designation by NCNLA.
Growing up with family members in landscaping, Brittany gained insight for plants and a love for the outdoors. Her hobbies include hanging out with family, friends, her dog Harvey, her plants, and 1 year old baby.
Our Landscape Sales is lead by Carol Lawless, who joined the team in April 2025.

She started her career as a seasonal worker for the city of Greensboro North Carolina at Bicentennial Gardens in 1984. Then went on to help build the Greensboro Arboretum and supervise landscape for Greensboro’s municipal buildings. Starting her own landscape company after that, it thrived for 20 plus years.

Taking a year off to travel out west and to Alaska she is thrilled to be back in the business again.
Carol enjoys growing her own hydroponic greens, fishing and pickleball.
